The First Beach Day...In February?

You guys know my battle with Mother Nature. She can be quite cruel to me at times. If she decides she wants the barometric pressure to rise and fall too rapidly, it means I may get a migraine. But thanks to the addition of  the medication Diamox, I can prevent some of those migraines.

That’s what happened a couple of weekends ago. Saturday was a bitterly cold day, but by the time Sunday afternoon rolled around, it was like a spring day. Since I knew the pressure change was happening well in advance, I took my Diamox and was able to enjoy a day at the beach with my youngest child and our dogs.

And we weren’t the only ones. Lots of folks had the same idea we had. Dogs ran up and down the shoreline, people were out fishing, and some people were even in the ocean swimming. Personally, I think it was bit too cold for that!

Even last weekend we had spring like temperatures, so I say to you Mother Nature, bring it on, I’m ready!

What about you? Have you been getting some warmer weather where you are?

  1. Swimming? Yeah, a bit too cold yet for that. Good you could enjoy the giant litter box migraine free though where you are at. (or we could get another migraine whining post) lol cat just had to add that, sure is warming up here too.

    1. I couldn't believe those guys were swimming in the ocean. Crazy. But they were also drinking so that could be why. haha. Yeah, I need to do another whiney migraine post. It's been far too long but with Dan not around, it's just not the same. haha

  5. What a lovely gift day in the middle of winter for you. My family in the Midwest has been loving the warm sunshine that melted away all the snow, but it will return for another round before Spring comes. Here in West Texas we've been unseasonably warm too, days in the 80's already. We've had a very mild winter and I can't complain about that! I just hope that summer isn't also warmer than usual, it's already generally hotter than hell! :-)

    1. We tend to get big snow storms in March so I'm wondering if this is the warm before the storm. Either way, I'm digging it just like your family in the Midwest. These days really are like little gifts to enjoy. When I lived down south, those summers were brutally hot. So much humidity it was hard to take. I don't envy your summer at all. Whew!

  6. Looks like it's going to be the next "hottest year ever."
It might not be too long before you can go to the beach year round AND it will be closer to your house!

    1. After our recent storms, we had a lot of beach erosion so they're in the process of rebuilding and repairing it all now...just in time for hurricane season.

  9. Hi Elsie - sounds like you made some good plans and then enjoyed the time out ... fresh air always does us some good. We've had a storm, but it crossed the country further north ... but it's been a February time ... snow, wind, rain, sun, warm down here, cold up there! We never know ... I've had one brief outing without a jacket - but back to one today! Cheers and enjoy the weekend - Hilary

    1. Yes. I make sure to keep any eye on the weather changes in our area so I can try to avoid any migraine I can. :) Our weather is about to be a bit nutty here too. We're in for storms today, some severe I heard, so it's time to batten down the hatches! Have a wonderful weekend, Hilary!

  10. Of course, it is getting warmer here in south India too. Usually I enjoy the winter season since it’s the only time weather is cool enough to experience outdoor. Good to know u got to visit beach even it was too cold... hope the weather becomes favour for you soon to frequent beach. I always love visiting beaches and it’s my best pastime since living close to sea, watching things happening around is fun.

    Love the fence shot!

    1. I love the warmer weather and I'm so glad that it's getting to be that time of year of year again. I'm hoping I'll get to spend a bit more time at the beach this year than I did last year. Then again, I say that every year..it's never enough for me. :)

  11. I can't believe how warm we are here. Since there's no humidity, it's the perfect time for the beach.

We celebrated my husband's 50th with a few days at a beach condo with friends over a year ago. We'd worried about weather since it was December, but it was a perfect 70 degrees just for us those days.

    1. Oh my gosh, how blessed were you guys to have such good weather during December? That's awesome! And you're so right, with no humidity, it's the perfect time to be down at the beach. Plus, hardly any people are there and no tourists haha

  12. Ah... the battle with Mother Nature. Sounds so poetic when you put it that way. If only, right? A little bird told me you were thinking about me for a split second when you were at work, so here I am to say HELLO.

    Hello, Elsie.
