Rumor Has It - An Early IWSG Post

Rumor Has It…

ETA:  There is a glitch between Blogger and GoDaddy that will hopefully be corrected by tomorrow. Thanks for the heads up JoJo!
Hello my Hooligans!  I miss you.  Really and truly, I miss you guys.  I hate not knowing what’s going on with everyone.  Blogging is one of my favorite past times and I haven’t been on here in a month.  Gah!  A month!

I’d ask where the time went but I know exactly where I spent it: working. That's why I'm doing the Insecure Writer's Support Group a day early.  It's my only day off this week and, I’m super excited about that. I'm not complaining one bit.  Just being healthy enough to work again is phenomenal.  And, being able to work up to twenty-five hours a week is icing on the cake.  Time to try and catch up on those credit card bills.

But, working comes at a cost.  Not only did my time on Blogger fall to zero, my writing time is down there with it. I’ve had to choose between editing and blogging.  So, during any downtime I find between work and family, I edit.  I’m that strange chick who carries her beloved laptop wherever she goes and ignores people’s stares as I continue to tweak my book.

And, I’m okay with that.  I understand it’s a temporary thing.  Rumor has it that every tax season has a lull for a week in February before it gets hairy again.  So, I may get more than one day off a week and if I do, I’ll spend it writing and blogging.  At least until things get crazy again, and even that ends April 15th.  There’s always a light at the end of the tunnel.

This is my way of saying sorry for being such a terrible blogger buddy and an even worse email friend.  My heart is always in the right place, even when my comments and replies aren’t.  A big thank you to those of you who’ve been checking up on me.  You guys rock!

Just like Arnold says, “I’ll be back.”  It may take a few months but I’ll be here.  And, I promise not to crash my car into my blog when I return.

How have you balanced life when things got hectic?

  1. Extra money is good! Tax season won't last forever.
Balance? Ask me again in April when I have a book release in the middle of the Challenge...

    1. Yes, the extra money has helped so much!! Nice not having to throw everything onto a credit card. You are a wild and crazy man doing the Challenge AND releasing for book. But, then again, you are everywhere all the time. You'll do great.

  2. I often wonder how I got anything accomplished when I worked full time. Being unemployed I seem to be busier than ever. Well except for lately since I've been trapped by snow and awful weather. I seem to be in a forced blog hiatus myself as I have nothing drafted after tomorrow and nothing new to share at all. Hang in there!

    1. I don't know how I got anything done when I worked full time either. I must have had more energy and been more organized because now, I feel like I get hardly anything done in a timely manner. I'm sure you'll think of something to share - you're uber creative!!

  3. Working definitely takes up lots of time! It's a skill to balance being a mom, a wife, a full time (or part time) employee, and then a writer. You will figure it out and will make time for the all the things you love. xo We all miss you!!!

    1. I miss you too, Jax! I think just getting used to working after not working for long is a task in and of itself. But, I am super happy to be healthy enough to do all of it! And, I'll totally find that balance. Eventually. :)

  4. Good on ya'. Nice to read your energized post.
I agree, being healthy enough to do something
    is the BEST.

Continued health to you, with a great big
    side of boogie boogie.

    2. It's true. And when I hear people complaining about exercising or doing chores, I know, they don't get it.

Thanks. She'll be back again soon. Right now I've got a new one to go with my most recent post.

      Hugs & Bugs,

    3. Love that avatar too, another adorable one. Yep, those aches and pains kick in enough to for me to have to stop or be in way too much pain the next day.

    1. I know, right? I'm a nut job for doing the IWSG a day early but it was the only way to get to all my blogger buddies! :)

  6. To balance things some things have to be taken off the scale and other things added. We miss you but we understand and being able to work on your book is wonderful and that you are working. Sometimes the scale tips one way or the other but one always manages to keep it going:) Money coming in is always good:)

    1. Great analogy, Birgit and so very true. I really miss being here but I'm also grateful for the reason I'm not here. At least for now. I'm sure I'll burn out on working sooner than I realize - money or not! haha

  7. Glad to see you back on blog with at least a post! To say the truth I come across my archives and accidently saw you old comments and came here to see what happening... but it’s so coincide to see u posting after long back. Mostly the attitudes remain for good, while priorities keep changing. Thanks for sharing a bit on life... and I think work is something impossible to avoid when it comes and what’s very difficult is balancing. All the best with book writing and life at your end... Hope it was a wonderful beginning this year :)

    Take care

    1. Oh my gosh, Jeevan!! It's so good to see you again!! I hope you're doing well. The last time I saw a post from you was during your move oh so long ago. I'm glad you're back!! I hope you're doing well too, my friend. I'm popping over to your blog now to see how life's been treating you. :)

  8. My blog is called Balancing Act and features an image of a woman on a tight rope, so, yep, I definitely feel you. It's all about balance. Sounds like you, like me, use technology to make sure you have access to your work wherever you might be. I've been doing a lot of writing at taekwondo and krav maga lessons this past month (my daughters classes). I've give up TV almost entirely. I'm also a very calendar and list driven person, so just portioning out my time for specific tasks helps keep me sane. Good luck finding the ways that work best for you and congrats on getting back in!

    1. What a great place to get some work done - although I bet it's a bit loud. But, if you're like me, you can focus through just about anything. Such as life having three kids - two of them 17 months apart. I live by my calendar although I try not to be so scheduled. It just suit me sometimes to fly off the cuff. ;p

  9. Glad to see you back! But there's nothing to apologize for - sometimes life gets in the way and that's just how it goes. Great to hear you are working again and happy with your job. :)

    1. Thanks, Julie. I just feel so terrible sometimes because people leave comments and then I don't return them. Awful Blogger etiquette! But, like you, I'm sure most people understand.

  10. Your blog is back!

Tax season is just two more months of crazy. Then you can get back to that writing.

    1. Yeah and I think I actually fixed it for good time. Maybe :) Yes, just two more months of insanity and all will be good again.

  12. No worries Elsie ~ Just do what you have to do and on a free day, you might get back to blogging ~ Enjoy your week ~

  13. Finally works at your sea. Good that your health allows you to work 25 hours a week indeed, you beat my 16 lol have to blog when we can, unless we are ahead like the cat.

  14. I've been doing more editing than writing lately, too. I need to get what I've written cleaned up, and then I can focus on the rest. Do what you need to do. Blogging can't come before everything else!

  15. Now that I'm working a 40 hour week (first time since I was in the Navy), it is tough to fit in work, sleep, downtime, blogging, and working on my book. It's hectic, but worth it. Happy to see you back!

  16. I'm glad that editing is one of your MANY priorities. Keep rocking it all, my friend. xo

  17. The problem I have with taking my laptop with me everywhere isn't the strange looks; its the people who come up to me to ask what I'm doing and want to sit a while to chat.

  18. I feel for you I think many most women walk a tight robe in life trying to remain balanced fearing at and step we will stumble and fall

  19. Working interfering with blogging? Where are your priorities?

Seriously though if I were still working at the job I had before going into forced retirement I don't think I'd be blogging much if at all. Working can take a lot of time and energy. Honestly I don't see how some people manage both.

  20. Hey, your blog finally works for me! Yay! Also, it's great that editing is taking up your free time. It should. Blogging is nice when you have the extra time for it, but when you don't, your creative output is much better spent elsewhere.

  21. Hey you... the past couple of times I tried to log on to your blog, I couldnt find it... I'm glad your blog is still here... thought maybe you had shut it down...

I hope all is well with you...
