H is for Humor: A-Z Challenge

H is for Humor

I was going to make “H” stand for Hypervigilant but, meh, let’s take a break from addiction today, shall we?

Except to say, one of the ways I was able to heal from the trauma was my warped sense of humor.

Modern Family is one of my favorite comedies:

I love Phil!

Then, there's my favorite comedy that just came to an end but lives on through the beauty of Netflix:  Psych

And, the show that replaced Psych for me:  Sirens

  1. Psych is one of the greatest comedies ever. I've seen the early seasons multiple times. So bummed it's gone, but you're right - with NetFlix, it lives forever.

    1. I stumbled onto Psych in the second season and watched it ever since. Somehow, my daughter and I missed the fact that this was the last season until it started up again. We were so sad!!

  2. All three of those shows are favorites of mine. I would add Community to the list :)

    1. I should give Community a try. I love Parks and Rec and I've heard they are fairly similar in humor.

    1. I highly recommend Psych if you love quick wit. Something they slip stuff in so fast, you almost miss it if you're not paying attention. Great show!

  4. Unlike you I just don't get MODERN FAMILY, I don't get what is funny in it. I tried watching it more than once but it just never made me laugh and I found the characters mostly appalling

    1. I watch it every night in reruns. For me, it's always good for a laugh. Not only do I find Phil's parenting hilarious, I can relate to his wife, Claire and her parenting techniques.

  5. My husband always says, "As long as I can keep my sense of humor, despite the pain, I can get through this." I know it's really bad when he no longer has his humor to get him through. It's when I start to fall. :/

    1. When I'm down with a migraine, I use humor to help get me through it. My hubby is much like you, he doesn't like to see me in pain so severe I can't even laugh. He feels so helpless during those times.

  6. I've never seen Modern Family but I like the two actors that are in that clip so I'll have to go back and see what it's about. Thanks for the post about it. Always good to find a new show. Or, new to me.

    1. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. It really does a good job representing all sorts of families. It might be on demand on USA…not sure.

  7. The only one of these I watch is Modern Family. I have heard numerous people indicate that they like Psych, but I missed it early on. I am one of those strange people who MUST see it from the beginning. I can't just jump in somewhere in the middle.

    1. I don't think that's strange at all. I've not watched shows because I can't watch them from the beginning. One of the wonderful things about Netflix I love so much. I binged on Breaking Bad when I found it =P

  8. I like Phil Dunphy too. He's so clueless, sweet and nerdy!

    1. I think it's really important to be able to laugh at life, especially when things are looking bleak. It keeps me from feeling sorry for myself =)

  11. Humor sure works for the cat, even though he may be the only one that gets his haha Psych was a great show indeed. Very well done. Humor can make or break a show, even something like stargate had it which helped excel that further. Monk was another really good one, who they made reference too in the last episode of psych.

    1. I'm embarrassed to admit I missed the reference. I remember thinking what a weird thing it was for them to say but never connected the dots until you just said it. I loved Monk and was so disappointed when that show ended too. Don't they know we expect them to stay on forever?!

  14. I've seen a few Psych episodes, but I just don't get to sit in front of a TV often. My husband was gone once for a whole week visiting his parents and I never even turned on the set. (In part, because we have so many remotes, I'm not sure how! LOL)

    1. I've got two remotes next to me as I type this - they both work the satellite and the television so I'm not sure why we have two. I just know the moment I get rid of one, I'll actually have to get off the couch to change the channel - gah! =P

  15. I've never heard of Sirens.
I'm pre-bummed that Psych is over. We only watch it on disc, so we haven't seen the last season, yet. >sigh<

    1. That's how I felt a few months ago - pre-bummed. I had no idea the series was coming to an end until the last episodes were playing. That's what I get for fast-forwarding through everything.

  16. Amen to that! Humor is such an important, necessary break sometimes. I always try to put some in my writing :)

  17. I'm a Modern Family-aholic.....I LOVE that show. The cast is just so awesome. The kids crack me up. I adore Lily. Cam & Mitch...OMG so funny!!! I should probably check out Sirens. I see the ads for it but I never think to record it.

    1. I love to watch it before I fall asleep. Makes me have sweet dreams =P

Just a warning about Sirens; it can be a bit risky with it's humor but I find that can't of humor the best. As long as it's not crude and obnoxious...

  18. Sorry I have not made it across to your blog yet, or I dont think I have. I say that because I am starting to lose my points of reference now and am well confused. . . . I have never seen any of these shows which means I have arrived at the wrong time and look like an IDIOT

Good luck on the journey to Z, I will try and return to view some of that cool artwork. . . . .Keep up the good work I am glad to see many visitors here, although I get a scared when I get a lot of visitors.

    1. AH HA yes it all comes back to me now I have been to A . . . . . . You see what drinking tea and eating fruit does, ruins a brain . . . . although everyone tells me is because I am old and away with fairies, but I know its eating fruit, its not good for you. . . .

    2. Dear sir, you could never look like an idiot. You wear a bow-tie everyday and that says nothing but classy to me! I'm with you though. This Challenge has stolen my memory. I will think I've never commented on a blog and then see my name somewhere in there a few posts back. I too blame fruit. Those apples aren't all they're cracked up to be. I refuse to acknowledge my age playing any type of factor.
