Count Me In

I made a pretty big decision the other day.  I decided to join in on the fun of the A-Z Challenge.  At first, I threw the idea out in my mental wastebasket.  I was afraid I wouldn’t be able to commit to such a big bloggy fest.  Then I changed my mind, and dug the idea back out of the garbage.  Don’t worry, it was in the recycle bin, so it wasn’t covered in dinner scraps.

I felt like the A-Z Challenge would be a great way for me to plant my rear in my chair, and get some writing done.  I keep telling myself I’m going to get on a schedule for my writing, but I never actually do it.  I schedule the same way I write, by the seat of my pants.  That has to change.

So, in the month of April you’ll see daily posts from moi.  But, wait.  It gets better.  I’m also a minion for Ayjay at Naturally Sweet.  You can tell because of the badges in this post and on my sidebar.  Jeremy from {Being Retro} created them.   Dang, he’s good.

It was recommended, I do a theme for the Challenge.  One that was similar to the subject of my blog.  That’s right, my Hooligans, most of the posts will be about sex addiction.

I figured a few things could happen by making sex addiction the subject of my posts. I bore the crap out of everyone, or I can help educate people about its existence. Let them know how it effects a regular ol’ (make that young) couple.  Not just what people see and hear from the media.  Like Tiger Woods and Anthony Weiner.  It really does happen to us (almost) normal folks.

Maybe I’ll even reach someone who is desperately looking for answers, or needs to know they aren’t alone.   That would be freakin’ awesome.  I’d love to let someone who is going through the same thing know that there is hope.

If you want to participate in the A-Z Challenge, here’s some information that will help you join:

One piece of advice I'd like to pass on - turn off your captcha.  You'll get more comments and follow up visits that way.

Are you in the Challenge this year?  Have you ever participated?

  1. I did A-Z the last 2 years but I didn't have a terribly good experience last year so I am minioning this year but not posting alphabetically. I couldn't even come up with alphabetical categories for my fave subject, the Grateful Dead. There was absolutely nothing in Dead history, music or lore that began with the letter Z.

    1. Now you've got me wondering why you didn't have a very good experience last year. Yeah, I know, I'm nosey. I was so excited when I saw your name on the minions list. I was like, "hey, I know her!" Silly huh? I never would have pegged you for a Dead Head =)

  4. Oh man, I remember doing this back in the day! Haven't done it last year, maybe it's a good idea to jump in again this time? Who knows, maybe I'll do a short story theme.

    1. Go for it, Fang!! A short story theme is a fantastic idea. Tons of topics to choose from.

  5. For the most part, I find the ready-made posts flat and the themed ones, boring.

Regardless, I wish you luck and fun. Cheers and boogie boogie.

    1. I couldn't do it if I was working. I don't know how people find the time to fit it all in. They must be super organized!

    2. Some of them have their posts written MONTHS in advance. Gives the bloggers a chance to just sit back, read and comment during the month of April.

  7. You know, I've thought about it the last couple of years, but with my blogging track record as of late, I just don't think I'd make it. Plus...I'm not that creative....its all a lie! ;)

    1. I hear ya, Mel. It was my crappy blogging record that made me decide to do it. I used to be on such a great schedule but allowed my health to get in the way. Screw that shit. I'm done feeling sad for myself and am gonna kick ass! ha ha =)

      Not creative? Yeah right!

  9. I've been done since the first of last month. Theme though? Pffft to that. Not going to confine the cat. They all rhyme, that counts, right? And geez, I think you'll post more posts in that month than you did all last year haha get ready though, as with everyone posting every day it can take a lot to keep up at your bay, even the cat has trouble sometimes.

    1. Are you kidding me? You're already done with your posts? Ugh. You disgust me, cat.

I know, right. By the time I'm done, I'll have more posts in one month on this blog than in one year on my writing blog! ha ha

I can keep up. The kids don't need to eat that month. They'll be fine...

    2. haha I'm almost into june posting now, the cat doesn't stop. A to z is like a break month for me, as I don't have to think up a post out of the blue, just follow the letters, easy peasy.

  13. Sorry I'm so late, but we had the funeral today and I'm just settling in for the night.

I can't believe you're going to do this. It's a monumental marathon of blogging for you to do. There's no way I could go the distance. One post a month almost brings me to my knees in tears.

    I will pray for you!!!!!

    1. I'm so sorry to hear you attended a funeral today. My sympathies.

Yep, it's going to make sure I stay behind the keyboard rather than get lost in the world of the unemployed. Sometimes I wonder where my day goes and other times I wonder why it takes so long =)

    1. Yeah, it's going to be a lot of work but I'm writing about something I'm passionate about so the words just flow as I write. That makes it much easier! Coming up with a poem a day, um, not so much. That'd kill me!!

  15. Unfortunately, no challenge for me this year. Even though I've participated the last three years and it's a lot of fun, I need to devote more time to writing my book. Have fun with it!

  18. A-Z challenge. It is a huge commitment Elsie. Good luck. And Anthony Wiener and Tiger Woods - would pictures be involved? I am not coming back if there are no pictures ;-) Does Charlie Sheen get a mention? And did you release a book I think about it time to time during my blog rehab time, but again ...
All the best. How is peanut and boys? Hope everyone is doing ok.

    1. MaMTC!!! How the hell are you??? So great to have you pop in over here. I've missed ya!!

Ugh, do you really want to see any more of Anthony Wiener? I think we've all seen way too much of that guy. Now, Tiger Woods is pretty handsome…pictures may not be a bad idea =P

I just finished my fictional book the other day. I was so excited!! My first one. Now I have to edit/revise. Blech. I'm also working on a nonfiction book about, what else? Sex addiction. That one is going kinda slow.

We are all doing great!! How about you and the boys???

    2. That's great Elsie. Congrats on the book, can't wait to check it out.
Sex addiction - better not name it "100 shades of pink" or something..

      We all are doing good.
Wiener and Sarah Palin should never go off the radar we should keep their contributions alive. That would inspire more people to vote and be serious about politics and importance of it. Can you imagine pictures of cycle shorts and "excited" boxers with American flag behind?
