It's Here! It's Here! I'm A Winner!

It's here!  I'm a winner!  Debra at She Who Seeks had a Carol Shield's giveaway over at her blog, and I won!  I never win anything, ever!  It arrived in the cutest little box, take a gander:
It included a very touching card which is now on my dresser mirror so I can see it every morning.  Debra's generosity is amazing.  I find Debra sharing a book she loved with a stranger, her act of paying it forward because she is so inspired by Carol Shields so very moving and inspiring.  How awesome is that?

I joked with Debra that I was going to finished my billion page Stephen King book before starting to read this one, however, I've since changed my mind.  I opened up the box once more.  Put King back on the shelf and will read Larry's Party beginning tomorrow (I have a Migraine today.)

I have also decided I will pay it forward, in the same box, as Debra did when I have finished.  I haven't decided how just yet.  It may be on Blogger or it may be in my S-Anon group.  I'll know once I've finished reading it.

Debra, Thank You from the bottom of my heart.  I truly cannot express how much your generosity has effected me.

Have you ever won anything?

    1. Wasn't that a great idea from Debra - it's why I stole it =)

You just made me remember one time a long, long time ago when I won a pair of movie tickets from a radio station. I had to drive out to the middle of no where to get them...

      Six weeks! Ridiculous!

  4. Congratulations on your win!!!! And I can sum up whatever King book you are reading: Invest yourself in 1000 pages of the characters who he'll just kill off in the last 10 pages and then never tell you what happened in the aftermath or to the survivors. lolol

I won 2 blog giveaways this summer, a blog giveaway a few years ago, and in 1995 I won tickets to see Ringo Starr & his All Star Band which was a great show. I also won big when my now fiance' found me on Facebook in January of 2011. That was an EPIC WIN!!!!!

    1. Thanks, JoJo! So funny about King! I love reading him but you are so right. He can go on for days about something so minute I can doze off for twenty pages and not miss a thing. I bet I can pick what book you're talking about too, or more accurately, what series - Gunslinger - my favorite..no wait...The Stand...no wait..The Mist...no wait LOL

You are one lucky duck with all those wins, especially with your fiancé! My question is - are you playing lotto????

    3. Oh no, poor Debs!

The penguins are always good at being well prepared for any type danger that may lurk...near or far. Such good penguins, they are. =)

    1. Thanks, Dan. I have to think of a cool way to do a contest if I do one on here. Debra was far to sweet. She did a random drawing. If I did one on here dare I be that kind??

      Delete
    2. I would love to have a contest but I can't afford to provide a prize! I originally wanted to have a contest each month where the winners get a WD T-shirt.

Anyways, trolls r us has beckoned you to come back to my blog!

    3. Postage would eat you alive every month. Especially if you had to ship stuff overseas!

      Delete
    4. Yes I know. I work in shipping so I know all about the cost of postage. It's like $10 to ship a 2lb package within the state! Via UPS that is.

      Delete
    5. Hmmm, another commonality, Dan...Migraines, taste in good music, faith in God...now shipping..what's next?

I used to do the freight billing at my last job. I had to find the rates to ship our products the cheapest way and then make sure the billing was done correctly.

  10. Does jury duty count? Because other than that, I don't ever seem to "win" anything. Not even board games or rock, paper, scissors.

With that said, I'm glad to see you won it, and Debra is such an awesome and giving blogger.

    ReplyDelete

    1. LMAO. No, I dont think you won when you got picked for jury duty. Especially after reading what you went through and the article on the case. That was a nightmare of a story.

You know what, I don't win at rock, paper, scissors either and I just mentioned on here the other day how I never win at board games...is this a trend? Am I just a loser?

Debra is very giving. She gave out another gift two weeks after this one!!

  13. Yay for the win! I like the idea of reusing the box to pay it forward. Could turn into a "thing" where each person who receives the box reuses it to do something kind for the next person they send it to. Hmmm, kind of a feelgood Nicholas Sparks-ish story idea in there.

Dezzy - are you trying to tempt me like MaMTC? Very slick, Dezz, very slick ha ha ha

I once won a big gift basket from a drawing at work. It was one of my volunteers that pulled my winning ticket, so I felt a little guilty, but it was such a great gift basket that I got over it pretty quickly :)
