What A Shame! It's Workingdan!

There are bloggers who have touched my heart and who I have chosen to dedicate a post to as my way of saying “Thank You” to them for being a part of my little blogging world.

Just a few days ago, we were commenting on Pat's page about how surprised and grateful we all are to have run across each other on here.  (Watch out, Pat – you’re turn is coming up..just keep that wretched cat away from me!)

One of the bloggers that I’m so grateful to have met is Workingdan.  Sometimes I call him Dan or WD if I’m feeling particularly lazy.  He’s one those bloggers that just popped up and surprised me.  I made assumptions about him that were so far off; I should be embarrassed.  Dan knows I made those initial assumptions because I was dumb enough to put them in comments somewhere on my old blog and he never took offense. (Good thing I shut that blog down and started this one!)

I found Dan’s blog at a time when I was moving away from blogs that dealt with what my blog primarily deals with all the time.  I needed a break. I needed to laugh.  His blog did just that, it provided me with laughter - a lot!!  I was hooked!

He and I commented back and forth on each other’s blogs and then one day in February, I was working on my fourth step and having a tough time.  It was giving me a fit, making me angry and sad and I mentioned God in my post.  That was the day Dan revealed his true self, the inner most personal, Dan.  Not just the comedic Dan.

I’ll spare you the extra reading – just understand they are deep and personal posts and he talks about his own personal struggles and revelations that began in our comments to each other.  It was so uplifting and inspiring.  I was truly amazed that this was the same guy I’d been reading for weeks.

Here are the links if you want to see what I’m babbling about:

Here’s his post and here's my post.

I had assumed he was just some beer drinking, football watching, peeing off the deck kind of guy…I mean where would I get that idea?  Turns out, he’s one of the kindest, insightful guys I’ve run across on Blogger.

Dan also has a smokin’ hot wife, Mrs. Workingdan.  She makes guest appearances on his blog and her sense of humor has me laughing every time she’s on there.  Especially in her latest video!

Dan, thank you for your words of encouragement when I needed them most back in February.  You truly helped me by sharing yourself so freely on my blog.

You rock!

  1. You've destroyed my image of Dan! I cherish those images of him pissing off the side of deck, drinking beer and nailing us to his Wall of Shame!!

Just kidding. I was surprised to when Dan showed his sensitive sad and his faith in God in his posts and in his comments on mine, yours and several other peoples pages. That's the nice thing about getting to know the person behind the blogging personae. Ostensibly I'm a foul mouthed drunk, but once you put aside my blog and get to know me, I'm pretty nice.

I'm glad Dan came out from behind his blog and revealed more of the person he is.

    1. I know, I know, his image is forever tarnished now LMAO. Poor Dan! I love the image he has of you from your Wall of Shame. Is it wrong to love your shamrocks, Anne? I didn't think so either.

I found Dan through you I think or vice versa..I couldn't remember exactly. I just remember that it was the comments in yours that I saw you for who you really were too and I started following you, then Pat. Pat took longer though. LOL That silly cat of his!!

I'm glad Dan revealed more of himself too; although his last post he revealed a bit to much! LOL

    3. Oh don't worry, there is more of me to reveal! lol

    4. @Pat - well I suppose that depends on who's asking...if it's Pat, yes you were well worth the wait. If it's the cat..back off!! =)

      @WD - Oh geez, now I'm scared!

@Anne - very good advice!! lol

  2. Well seeing as one of my first exposures of him was him drinking beer and cooking chicken and potatoes on a barbecue I made some initial assumptions that I am, too, glad to say were wrong. He is a pretty cool guy, and I don't think he takes offence easily at all. I'm glad you had someone too :) We all need someone.

    1. I think it takes a lot to offend Dan too and his main goal is to make people laugh and network with other bloggers and he does it so well. He was definitely there for me at the perfect time! Thanks, Mark =)

    2. I get offended quite easily actually... I just don't show it! shhh! don't tell anyone though! I have a badass image to maintain!

I agree with you. The man is very a big sweetheart, who has a lovely woman by his side.

    2. C'mon now...the post is about me...not the wife! lol

She is quite beautiful and I don't deserve her. I'm lucky if I still have her by the end of this year! I'm screwing things up again with the Mrs.

    3. Dan, I will seriously put a foot up your ass if you are screwing things up with her again. Behave!!

  5. Let me try this again...stupid blogger! I had a big long comment and it didn't post. Now you get the short version.

The internet... a place where we wear masks, and take them off from time to time!

My reputation for being a beer drinking, pot smoking, insensitive prick is now ruined!

I'm just a big teddy bear. I'm more sensitive than most women. I cry more than the average guy! As much as I try to be rude and vulgar on my blog, deep down I'm just a nice guy.

I'm so glad you find support in my comments. I put all my heart into when I leave them.I never expected to make a connection like we have and I'm thankful for that. I find comfort and support just as much as you do in our exchanges.

Thank you, Elsie! For seeing me for who I really am and for being such a down to earth person! You are so cool and I enjoy talking to you! Thank you!

When you come back to this page tonight or tomorrow you're not going to be able to fit your gigantic ego out of the door after reading all of the kind things people are saying about you!

      Thank you again, Dan!

    1. LOL - Dezz, I just truly laughed out loud! The image of his butt instantly popped into my head. It is forever burned into my brain from his post the other day. Then when I was all over his blog yesterday getting these pictures, I found a picture of a man's bum (don't know if it's his) and now that one is popping up in my brain. Dan's blog has scarred me for life =)

    2. Seeing the cats hairy bum would be worse than seeing Dan's. I shudder at the thought.

    3. @dez- So if I want you to keep coming to my blog I have to include my ass in every post?

  8. Yes, but he's OUR beer guzzling, football watching, peeing off the deck guy. That's the great thing about Dan, is that he can be all of those things and still be an awesome guy. And I say that as a huge compliment.

    1. AND you OWN his Wall of Shame. At least for the moment. You guys will be taken down from that wall soon enough!

You hear that Elsie? The biggest name in blogging said I'm an awesome guy!

  9. Yeah Dan's blog is great, maybe come off irrate, but all in good fun as each tale is spun. And one for the cat as well has to come due, screw Pat, the cat will flush him down the loo. Stupid Pat left the cat behind, that just should not be done as he goes about the NY grind.

  11. I am late to this post. If I say anything it would look like I prepared my meal comment from candy buffet over here.

I agree with every single comment and the post here. He is an awesome guy and he is a open book, he doesnt just flash or moon but shows off his gentleman soft side too.

Hey Dan, bookmark this post and send to me too, I want my Eulogy to sounds exactly like this, I know people may find hard to say good things about me, so this would be good copy paste exercise :)

He and Mrs.Working Dan made for each other pair, they are so awesome together. Match made in heaven filled with beers and hangover battles.

And I cant thank him enough, I should start off with ABFTS who showed him Dan and Dan showed me Anne, Pat and all. Good guy and I wish he stays this way and not loose his originality or his extremely funny/sense of humor.

No, seriously, I understand my blog is not an easy one to read at times and I have a lot of people who have stuck through the BS and helped me pull through to brighter side of things. Dan was one of them.

He's funny and he's a nice guy! A good combination!

If I ask people or challenge them to do dedications you can hear only cricket sound there over at my blog.

      Dan is a great guy.

  13. Awwww this is so much fun! The thing is, anyone with eyes like his, can't be anything but sweet, kind, generous and passionate (plus a bunch of other great qualities that are too numerous to mention here). So nice to read this and I bet our very own Workingdan is somewhere between the clouds and the sun right now. Someone grab him quick so that he doesn't fly away!

Yesterday I had a lot of fun reading the tweets between him and Mrs. Workingdan. The Mr. was at home tweet-screaming for the Mrs to wake up and buy milk and doughnuts. It was all in fun of course - the pair of them are awesome!

Great post Elsie! Such a joyful read :-)

  14. Who could resist that sweet innocent face posted in the picture above? :-) When I first arrived on WorkingDan's blog I was a bit taken aback by his "rough around the edges" brand of humor, but I've come to see the guy inside and that he truly is caring and kind, totally blowing his well polished image as a smart-ass! The blog exchange links you posted above were moving and awesome. I love blogs where people are being real, not playing roles for an audience. It takes courage to bare yourself and your soul in blogland, and I commend you both for being true to who you are, that's what keeps me coming back. We share, we learn, we grow!

    1. I know, he does have that sweet and innocent face, doesn't he? That "rough around the edges" is exactly my kind of humor =P Then when I found out he had that sweet and innocence within him, it was an added bonus!! I admit, it's still scary to be as blunt and honest on here as I am even behind an alias which I know isn't all that secure. So, for Dan, it's even more courageous of him because he does it so openly. Sometimes so much we can see his butt! LOL

Thanks, Josie...it's why I always head over to your blog too, BTW... =)
